Не понятно почему ломает. У меня закомментировано и все работает.
Можно еще раз полный конфиг и внесите в него исправление как вы комментируете строчки с

Да, нашёл, называется "os_linux.png". Грепнул по /boot - она упоминается только в refind.conf в тексте

Рефинд сам подставляет, эта если ос не опознана как линукс но не опазнана как конкретный которому есть иконка. У вас бут на отдельном разделе потому не читается инфа о системе

Не, на месте пингвин. Пробовал гуглить, пока безрезультатно.
А-ха-хах! Не, ну я не могу! )))))

Короче, зашёл в экран рефинда, наставил на пингвина, и тупо нажал "Delete" на клаве! :))))) Мне задали вопрос "Hide или не Hide?" - выбрал "Hide". После чего часть опций из-под этой кнопки исчезла. Затем, зашёл в "Hidden tags menu" (маленькая кнопочка с тремя оранжевыми стрелками), и так же само поудалял то, что там было. После этого кнопка с пингвином пропала! :)))

А мы там volume комментируем, nvram....... )))

UPD
А на ноуте ещё проще вышло: нажал "Del" на пингвине, выбрал Hide, перезагрузился, и снова сделал то же самое - кнопка исчезла ))

В смысле скинуть вам конфиг? Я его пересматривал - ничего там вроде не поменялось. Впрочем, мог что-то пропустить. Я только обратно закрыл "dont_scan_volume" и "use_nvram".

Но про это не знал ;)

А во мне просто инстинктивно сработал чайник-обыватель: если хочется что-то удалить - нажми "Del" :))) Иногда всё бывает намного проще, чем кажется. На том и стоим :)))
